I was standing in the living room talking with my brother late afternoon when two 5 point bull elk walked out of the woods and up the road. They were huge. One had a slightly lighter color than the other. I tried to get the camera but the dogs started barking and the big elk bolted up the ridge across the road. They’ve been bugling in the hills directly to the east of here every night, driving the dogs crazy. [...]

Gold is nice but if you really want financial security in the years ahead brew your own beer. Cheap home brew is a great barter item and as "sin" taxes go up the black market value will continue to increase.

Favorite Baked Potato Recipe

As many of you know I like to cook on or in the woodstove. Here is my favorite baked potato recipe.

Split and scoop out a baking potato leaving about a 1/4 inch of potato next to the skin. Fill with diced liver and onions and a teaspoon of butter. Rejoin the two half potatoes and wrap in aluminum foil then place in the wood stove for two hours. Cooking time will of course vary depending on how hot your stove is.

When cooked, salt and pepper to taste then place a slice of cheese or grated Parmesan on the potato halves.

You can also use fajita meat, hamburger or even elk as a meat filling. No need to brown the meat as the baking process thoroughly cooks it.

Enjoy!

  • Marc Nelson

How about posting something. I live in Denver, I would come down to check on you if I cound find your place. We don’t know if you fell off the roof, got drug off by a mountain lion, abducted by an alien, hauled off by bigfoot, or got tired of posting.

Bear has family and if they are reading his posts;would you please let us know if Bear is okay. This is not like Bear. We all are growing very concerned.Bear was keeping some neighbors car;while they went back to Texas. I hope that if they are reading his posts that they can check on Christopher Eastin. He lives outside of Fort Garland, Colorado.

So I have left a comment or two on here that have never shown up. On the other hand, others have also, and they have shown up. What’s up with that?

  • Judy Adams

Sure is strange. This happened with my comment as well.

  • Rita

Bear, where are you? Can anyone update the rest of us?

  • Judy Adams

I sent an email to his co-author Ryan Acker several weeks. No reply. There has to be something terribly wrong with Bear.
